Still life (2013)

A man with too much money, stuck in a misplaced café, tells emaciated and offensive jokes incessantly.

A woman with suppressed energy, flattened by the tedium of present existence and unwanted past, provided with a forced smile.

A man deeply touched by life, wiry and seemingly incisive, essentially uncertain, melancholy and suffering under and from existence.

A woman repeating herself until the words have no sound, longing for the ultimate sexual experience ending with death.

A man with many abilities put into wrong things so that he is eternally stuck with his life chosen out of revenge.

A caveman trying to survive without perspective.

Together in a large, otherwise empty, café at a table with a screen in the background filled with scantily clad ladies and non-sounding sounds. A depressing void filled with some struggling individuals, together to indulge in mutual understanding without being spoken.

Esther and Dennis (2013)

Esther is concerned with everyone, engaging, disarming, full of compassion and without prejudice. Dennis lives entirely on and for himself, without contact, without attention to his surroundings. Dennis spins his own web everywhere, then sits outside the web and watches everyone who becomes entangled in the tangle of indistinct snares that he ties together to make and keep his world orderly.

When they meet, Dennis loses his ability to tie snares. He can no longer make threads, let alone a web. He feels utterly naked and knows no way around it. Esther goes about her usual business, taking him all the way, without trapping him. A smile draws on Dennis' face. This has never happened to him before.

He flees, into anonymity, where he can make another web. Esther goes about her business and looks forward to the next meeting with Dennis. Little does she know yet that this will also be the last meeting.
